Wanda L. Pfeffer
HARTFORD CITY, IN –
Wanda L. Pfeffer, 73, passed away Sunday morning, May 10, 2026 in Hartford City, following an extended illness.
Born in Springfield, Ohio on July 4, 1952, she was the daughter of the now late Harry Wayne and Nellie (Burch) Marquell. She attended schools locally, including Licking School, in her formative years and continuing college courses in mathematics, accounting and bookkeeping that led her to own her own business.
She married T. Chris Pfeffer at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, on July 18, 1969.
Wanda, in her younger years, worked for Citizens State Bank (now First Financial Bank), was a purchasing agent for the local schools system, was well known in her position of deputy auditor, in the Blackford County Courthouse and became the owner/CEO of NX Construction, LLC.
A member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Wanda also belonged to the Elks Lodge #625 of Hartford City.
Wanda had a passion for running and physical fitness; loved gardening and flowers and especially enjoyed traveling, extensively.
She is survived by her husband, Chris; her daughter, Stacey (Mike) Disbrow of Fishers, IN; two sisters: Janie (Rick) Kindle and Julie Hicks; one brother, Larry Marquell; several nieces and nephews and her grand dog, Wally.
In addition to her parents, her brothers, Wayne Marquell and Ronnie Marquell precede her in death, as well as two sisters, Sharen and Karen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 15th in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City. Father Kevin Hurley will celebrate the mass, with burial following at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14th, in the Waters Funeral Home, Hartford City, with the Christian wake service beginning at 7:30. Friends may also call from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
