HARTFORD CITY, IN

Vincent J. "Vinnie" Charnley, 59, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at his home of natural causes.

He was born in Hartford City on January 19, 1956 to Ross and Rita (Pursley) Charnley and graduated from Blackford High School in 1974. Vinnie's favorite hobby was playing his guitar.

Vinnie was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. For 20 years he was the manager of Amick's Truck Stop at State Road 28 and I 69.

Survivors include three sons, Vincent M. "Vinnie" Charnley (wife, Sandra), Brandon L. Charnley (girlfriend, Brittany), and Casey A. Charnley (wife, Mallory), all of Hartford City; four brothers, Frederick "Rick", Nicholas, Mark (wife, Robin) and Eugene "Geno" (wife, Jo); three sisters, Mary (Gary) Vanderbur, Teresa Rouse, and Judy Smith; nine grandchildren, Dalton, Lucas, Lilly, Madelyn, Addison, Liberty, Eli, Mckenzie and Tanner Charnley. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and the mother of his children, Teresa Davis, New Castle.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Francis "Frannie" and a sister, Rita Ann Benedict.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Dave Newton at 10 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2016 in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City. Burial will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2016 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City.

The Christian Wake Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in the form of Masses.
