Tina Murrell Obituary

HARTFORD CITY, IN-

Our mom, Tina D. (Warner) Murrell, passed into the spirit world, Thursday, May 26, 2022.  She was surrounded by some, but not all of her favorite people.

Mom was the youngest daughter of Carl E. Warner and Thelma L. Warner’s five children.

She was born September 17, 1955 in Hartford City. She was part of the first freshman class to graduate from Blackford High School, class of 1973.

While working at the A & W as a car-hop, she saw our dad, Bruce Murrell pull up.  She always told us it was love at first sight.  They were married August 17, 1974.

Mom began working in the Blackford County School Corporation as kitchen staff in 1983 and worked there for 35 years, until her retirement in 2020; serving food, hugging, complementing, tying shoes and anonymously putting money into generations of unknowing student accounts.  She also sold Avon cosmetics, for what she described as “too damn long”, however she loved visiting with the people she sold to for all of those 15 years.

Some amazing facts about out mom:  she had a comedically terrible sense of direction; she could pinch with her toes; she could do a fantastic Tina Turner dance impression; she loved turning great music up really loud and dancing; all animals great and small within a ten mile radius of their house knew it was a safe haven; she used “colorful” language and said ‘I love you’ a bunch; when she would laugh, her beautiful eyes would get all squinty and pretty much vanish; she was one of the hardest working people we’ve ever known; she absolutely loved working in her yard; she was an amazing cook, whose pies and cookies were a coveted delicacy; a caring wife; a great mama; the absolute best granny any little kid could ever wish to have; to her core beautiful goddess of a woman and she was super-pissed about getting cancer.

She is survived by her heartbroken family:  husband of 48 years Bruce D. Murrell; daughter Tisha S. (Christopher) Reidy, Monticello, IN; son, Travis M. (Tori) Murrell, Wawaka, IN; daughter Jennifer L. LaFollette, Montpelier, IN; granddaughters Navah A. Trice & Harper S. Trice of Monticello, IN; Tori L. (Kevin) Leach, Wabash, IN; grandson Tommy McElveen of Wabash; her grand-dog, Elmer Fuzz; her and dad’s sweet old gal dog, Lucy and her bitter cat co-habitant, Izzy.  Siblings:  Melanie “Penny” Berrier (Pete Carnevale), Las Vegas, NV; Nick F. Berrier, Hartford City; Michael K. (Becky) Warner, Matthews, IN and a bunch of sweet nieces and nephews.

Her parents both preceded her in death along with her eldest sister, Naedean (Gene) Cook.

She has asked that everyone please go to a dermatologist and get checked out.  Even if YOU don’t think it’s something, it may BE something.  This nightmare started two years ago, with a simple rogue mole.

Mom’s hope was to spend the afterlife as a nomadic ghost, so she could check on us from time to time.
