Thomas Brown Obituary

Thomas A. Brown, 85, prominent Hartford City attorney, passed away June 21, 2016 in Marion.

He was born on April 26, 1931 in Hoopeston, Illinois to George Lawrence and Ethel (Acres) Brown. He graduated from Hartford City High School in 1949, received his bachelor's degree from Indiana University and then earned his law degree at Emory University.

He married Ann Bohdan in Oak Park, Illinois. Her death occurred on December 19, 2009. Tom served his country in the Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Brown served as Assistant Indiana Attorney General under Edwin K. Steers, three terms as Blackford County Prosecutor and practiced law at his business that he started in the mid-1960s.

His memberships include First Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge 106, Blackford Shrine Club, Sigma Pi Fraternity, American Legion Post 159 and former member of the Elks Lodge 625. He was past president of Hartford City Rotary and served on the board of Blackford County Mental Health Association.

Survivors include one son, Thomas R. Brown (wife, Diane "Pepper" Bromelmeier), a brother, Rollin Brown, Hartford City, and two grandchildren, Megan Brown and Dylan Bromelmeier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his daughter, Megan Orr.

The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 24 in the First Presbyterian Church, 117 W. Franklin St, with Pastor Susan Finley presiding. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery with military rites by Delaware County Veterans.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

A Masonic Service will be Thursday at 7:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
