Tamela S. “Tammy” Hornbaker

HARTFORD CITY, IN-

Tammy S. Hornbaker, 63, passed away Wednesday evening, May 10, 2023, at her home, after an extended illness.

She was born in Portland, Indiana on November 13, 1959, one of three children born to Lloyd C. and E. Jean (Johnsonbaugh) Baker. 

A life resident of this area, she graduated from Blackford High School, class of 1978.  On November 1, 1980, she married Ted Hornbaker in the Assemblies of God Church, on Hartford City’s south side. 

Tammy was a long-time employee of the Overhead Door Corp., formerly in Hartford City, where she belonged to the Carpenters and Joiners Union, Local 2047.

She enjoyed music, especially Kid Rock and Cheryl Crow. Her love of music also brought her to the fundraising efforts and concerts to promote the “Swing-of-Faith” program, locally.  This provided for swings in the local community parks for physically challenged children, so they could enjoy the parks as well as other children without these physical challenges.

Surviving, is her husband of forty-two years, Ted; her daughter, Jamie Hornbaker; brother, Danny (Sheila) Grayson of Hartford City as well as nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Jolinda Norris.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2023 in the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City, with Pastor Troy Kaufman, of the Lighthouse Church presiding.  Burial follows at Black Cemetery west of Albany.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday, at the funeral home.
