Steven Edward Sims, age 42 died early Sunday morning in Huntington County, from a fireworks accident.
A life resident of Hartford City, he was born to Mark and Menena (Julian) Sims and graduated from Blackford High School, class of ’97.
Steven enjoyed being outdoors, especially on the Salamonie Riverfront property, in Huntington County. It was there he enjoyed most, with the comradery he enjoyed with friends. He loved his motorcycles and his cars and his trucks. A hard worker in the concrete construction industry, he was employed by SJ Smith Contractors.
He was a member of Blackford Lodge #106 F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite-Valley of Fort Wayne and also was a Shriner.
In addition to his parents Mark & Menena, he leaves one sister, Brandi; two nieces KayLee Sims and Briana Ehrhart; one great-niece: RaeLee Rohrs. His aunt: Belinda (Rick) Weller of LaPorte; his uncle: Robert (Barb) Julian of Camino, CA, along with countless cousins and his godson, Chase Newport.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Louise (Stillwell) Julian, July 29, 1964; Dale L. Julian, Mar. 23, 1989; Orval “Bud” Sims, June 21, 1998; Marjorie L. (Risley) Sims on Mar. 15, 2011 and his step-grandmother, M. Doris (Sanders) Julian on May 30, 2017.
Steven’s wishes were to be cremated. His family will be having services privately.
