HARTFORD CITY, IN—

Steven A. Collett, 69, passed away Saturday evening, November 6, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family, after a six-year battle with cancer.

Born in Portland, Indiana on March 19, 1952, Steve was one of five children born to Ora Lee and Ada (Brosher) Collett, attending school in Redkey, prior to coming to Hartford City, graduating from Blackford High School, class of 1970.  He also attended Ball State University and Ivy Tech.

He married Kim Pettyjohn in 1975 in Dunkirk and raised his family in Hartford City.

Steve initially worked in the sawmill industry prior to trucking, but then returned to wood products, in the mulch portion of this business.

He leaves behind his wife of 46 and a half years, Kim; his three children:  James (Shannon) Collett, Beth (Rod) Nichols and Mike (Lara) Collett.  Six grandchildren:  Austin Collett, Gavin Collett, Peyton Nichols, Parker Nichols, Vienna Collett and Gwyneth Collett.  One brother, Mike (Pam) Collett as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Deffenbaugh; two brothers: Nick Collett and Tony Collett.

Private family viewing will be held prior to cremation.  Graveside service and burial of cremains will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12th in Hillcrest Cemetery in Redkey.
