HARTFORD CITY, IN Stephen E. Cook, 72, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 in Anderson. He was born August 21, 1937 in Anderson, the son of Lee Edward and Madeline (Kimm) Cook. At the age of nine he moved to Washington, graduating from Everett High School in1955. Steve returned to Indiana in 1955 and attended Ball State University. He was a graduate of University Commercial Lending School. Steve was an Army veteran serving from 1957-1960 and had served in the Annapolis Armed Security Agency. He was employed at First Financial Bank, Hartford City from 1962 -2001, retiring as Senior Vice-President. Steve married Virginia Dant on September 14, 1963 in St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Anderson. He was a life member of Robert Morris and Associates, President of Wabash Valley Bankers, Board Member & Treasurer of Blackford Community Hospital, Board Member of Ball Memorial Hospital Foundation, Chairman of Hartford City Revolving Loan Board. He was also a member of Blackford Country Club, Kiwanis Club, and Jayland Antique Auto Club. Surviving are: a son, Mark (Sandi) Cook, Fishers; 2 grandchildren, Anthony and Lee Cook; and Virginia Cook, Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Norma Smith. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 22 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Rev. Lloyd Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery. Friends may call at Waters Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Monday, June 21 and after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
