Sherry J. (Holcombe) Barker, 68, passed away late Thursday afternoon, Nov. 14, 2024, in the comforts of her own home, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
Born in Hartford City on Sept. 10, 1956, she was the second of three daughters of Edwin A. and June M. (Townsend) Holcombe and graduated from Blackford High School, class of 1975. On Dec. 13, 1985, she married Chuck Barker in Boone Co., Kentucky.
Her favorite past-times were reading and playing the card game, solitaire. In her younger years, she enjoyed sewing and crafting, as well as attending community street fairs, carnivals and craft shows.
She leaves behind her husband of nearly thirty-nine years, Chuck; sons: Cory (Rachelle) Barker and their son, Hutchison, of State College, PA; Kris (Laura) Folsom and their children Kyle, Ashlyn and Gabby of Yuma, AZ.; her sister Amy (Dan) Fanning of Upland; her grandchildren: Marvin, Jacqui, Gavin, Madison and Brice as well as nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Sherry’s long-time caregivers, Brenda Hughes and Chrissy Sutton.
Her father preceded her in death on Jul. 2, 1999; her mother on Aug. 2, 2018; Son, Kevin, passed on Jul. 29, 2022; her sister Holly Bullard on Jun. 30, 2018; brother, Patrick Holcombe and nephews: Brennan Fanning on Jan. 19, 2015 and Jayson Bullard on Apr. 15, 2018.
Services will be at 1:30 P.M. Monday, Nov. 18th at Waters Funeral Home, with Father Kevin Hurley officiating. Burial will be in the Hartford City Cemetery, after the service.
Visitation also will be on Monday, from 12:00 noon until the time of services.
