MONTPELIER, IN-

Sharon R. Snyder, 82, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 in IUHealth Ball Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born in Harrison Township, Blackford County on May 15, 1940 the daughter of George R. and Delphia V. (Hummer) Markin and was a 1957 graduate of Montpelier High School.  On August 31st of that year, she married Max R. Snyder and they made their home together in California for three years while Max served in the United States Marine Corps.

In 1960 they returned to Hartford City where she raised her family and worked at Parkside Elementary School, in the cafeteria many years, before retiring in 1994.

A long-time member of Bethel Center Church, she also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She and her husband Max square-danced for eleven years, belonging to the “Yellow Rockers” square dance club and also the “Blackford Circling Square”

She leaves behind two sons:  Chris A. Snyder and Richard Wayne (Shannon) Snyder.  Six grandchildren:  Rachael, Ryan, Jessica, Bailey, Shaylah and Christopher “Levi” Snyder and two great-grandchildren, Arayrah and Mason Snyder.  Also, a half-brother:  Fred Graves.

In addition to her parents, her husband of 55 years, precedes her in death on September 27, 2012; a grandson, Seth A. Snyder; four half-brothers:  Kenneth Graves, John Graves, Eugene Graves and Francis Graves.  As well as five half-sisters:  Catherine Mahon, Juanita Scott, Virginia Clark, Mary Ann Walisa and Hilda Paxson.

Services are private for the family on Friday and burial will be in the Hartford City Cemetery.
