C. Rose Stroup
HARTFORD CITY, IN—
C. Rose Stroup, 97, passed away Sunday morning, May 8, 2022 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Hartford City.
She was a life resident of Hartford City, one of six children born to Jacob and Jennie (Day) Pursley and graduated from Hartford City High School, class of 1943. On February 1st of 1947, she married Lawrence J. Stroup in Hartford City. They celebrated sixty-four years of marriage, prior to his passing on April 6, 2011.
A homemaker, Rose was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she was active with the Altar Rosary Society and Our Lady of Good Counsel Study Club.
She leaves behind two daughters: Jenny A. Tsakkos and Kay Fernandez; one son, Patrick Stroup; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, a daughter Elizabeth died in 1986, a son David in 2008; two brothers: Maurice Pursley and Paul Pursley; three sisters: Agnes Rogers, Mary Shatto and Rita Charnley.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 12 in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St., with Father Kevin Hurley as celebrant. Burial follows the mass at Hartford City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2022 in the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City. The recitation of the rosary will begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the church in the form of masses.
