Phyllis G. Borgenheimer, 87, passed away on December 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Elmer T. and Laura J. Hendricks (MacDonald) on February 6, 1937, in Hibbing, Minnesota. She attended Hibbing High School. Phyllis married Kenneth E. Borgenheimer in Duluth, MN in 1959 and began raising her family.
She was an incredibly selfless person and worked most of her life caring for others. In retirement, Phyllis enjoyed sewing, knitting, needlepointing, gardening and dancing. She loved being outdoors or relaxing in a sunny window. She was famous for the variety of holiday cookies produced each Christmas, a tradition that carries on with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her memory will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Kenneth E. Borgenheimer, Hartford City, IN; Sister Marridee (John) Moilanen, La Crescent, MN; sister Christine (Bruce) Savall, Sparta, WI; son Dan (Helen) Borgenheimer, Hartford City, IN; daughter Jennifer K. Borgenheimer, Buhl, MN; son John Borgenheimer, Alexandria, MN; son, Tim Borgenheimer, Hibbing, MN; son Tom (Jennifer) Borgenheimer, Alexandria, MN. Grandchildren: Sarah (Jeremy) Trant, Montpelier, IN; Allison (Eric) Wendorf, Prior Lake, MN; Laura (Kevin) Vater, Fishers, IN; Amy (Zachary) Mackey, Eveleth, MN; Nathan (Whitney) Borgenheimer, Hartford City, IN; Anna Borgenheimer, Alexandria, MN; and Jacob Borgenheimer, Detroit Lakes, MN. Great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Goerdt, Jace Goerdt, Charlotte Trant, Henry Trant, Caroline Trant, Maria Vater, Lincoln Borgenheimer and Lennon Borgenheimer.
A private ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2024. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
