Peggy J. Holsten, 85, died Friday morning, Sept. 15, 2023 at Envive of Hartford City.
She was born in Lebanon, Missouri on June 17, 1938, the daughter of Floyd and Lelia (Davis) Elam. She spent her childhood in Dunkirk, Indiana, moving to Hartford City, where she graduated from Hartford City High School, class of 1956.
On October 25, 1958, she married Herbert H. Holsten in Hartford City. She raised her family here and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Additionally, she was active with the former Montpelier Lions Club and enjoyed flowers and gardening and bingo, especially at the Elks Lodge.
Peggy retired from Star Financial Bank, Fort Wayne after many years, after working at what was Citizens Bank in Hartford City for a number of years.
She is survived by three sons: Jeff (Dawn) Holsten of Albuquerque, NM, Jacob “Jake” (Diana) Holsten of Hartford City and Bradley (Julie) Holsten of Fort Myers, FL. Seven grandchildren: Megan (Chris) Speck, Jeremy (Cassandra) Holsten, Tiffany (Kyle) Homan, Ryan (Lauren) Holsten, Kyle (Calani) Holsten, Parker (Maddi) Holsten and Brittney (Cole) Chambers; Eleven great-grandchildren: Archer Speck, Preston Holsten, Annabelle Holsten, Holsten Homan, Morgan Homan, Wyatt Homan, Olivia Homan, Lydia Holsten, Roman Holsten, Paislee Chambers and Sophia Chambers, a brother Charlie (Brenda) of Indianapolis, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of over 51 years, Herbert “Herb”, on September 26, 2010; her grandson, Jarrett Holsten; one brother, James Elam and two sisters: Pauline Lugar and Carol Whitesell.
Services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, September 30, 2023 in the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City, with Rev. Kevin Hurley presiding. Burial will follow services, at Gardens of Memory in Muncie.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Sept. 30th from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
