Patricia "Pat" "Jo" Josephine (Perry) Starr

HARTFORD CITY, IN

Patricia Josephine “Pat” or “Jo” Starr, 80, passed away Monday evening at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne.  Born in Paris, Arkansas on February 28, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Helen M. (Douglas) Perry.

On March 16, 1974, she became the wife of William Keith “Bill” Starr, Jr., to whom she married in Hartford City.

Pat/Jo was employed as a surgical technician at Blackford County Hospital many years.  She then worked at the office of the Blackford County Medical Group.  Upon retirement, Pat/Jo still found she needed to do something. She then worked at Alco, then for Dollar Mart (now Walnut Creek) in Grant County.

She enjoyed being outdoors, nature and being passionate about flowers. She loved reading her books. She enjoyed watching storms and watching it rain. From her hospital bed, she was able to watch her last storm. Pat/Jo also enjoyed sunrises and sunsets.  She also loved her indoor and outdoor cats, faithfully taking care of them night and day.

She will be so missed by her husband of fifty years, Bill; Five sons: David Spencer, Joe (Lou Ann) Spencer, Stephen Spencer, William (Tiffany) Starr III and Chris (Heather) Starr.  Seven grandchildren:  Kurt Spencer, Matthew Spencer, Tyler Jakob, Justin Starr, Sophia Starr, Alexis Starr and Jaxx Starr.  Additionally, several cousins in this area and sister-in-law, Teresa Perry.

Her father precedes her in death on Apr. 11, 1996; her mother on Aug. 12, 2007.  Her brother, Douglas “Doug” Perry passed on Oct. 28, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Mar. 26th, in the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City, with Rev. Jack Best presiding.  Burial will be in the Hartford City Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, Mar. 25th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 – 11:00 a.m on Tuesday, at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be sent to:  www.WatersFunerals.com.
