Pat Dee

HARTFORD CITY, IN--Patricia J. “Pat” Dee, 89, passed away Thursday morning, November 27, 2025, in Hartford City. 

Born in Eaton, Indiana, on March 30, 1936, she was one of five daughters born to the late Ancel and Carrie (White) Ward.  Pat graduated from Eaton High School, Class of 1954, and continued her education at Ball State University, earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.

Pat and Larry C. Dee were married on August 30, 1958.  They celebrated forty-five years of marriage prior to his death on August 19, 2004.  After Larry’s untimely passing, Pat continued serving her husband’s appointment to the Hartford City Board of Works and Safety, as well as the Hartford City Cemetery Board, where she had served as secretary.

Pat was an elementary school teacher for thirty-nine years with Blackford County Schools. She also taught for one year at St. John Riedman Memorial School.  A member of the Blackford County Teachers Association, she also served as secretary for the BCTA.

Pat belonged to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church; the former Blackford Country Club, serving on its Board of Directors and as secretary; the Creekside Association; and the Blackford County Golf League.

She leaves nieces Amy (Alan) Cawrse, Nancy (Rick) Copsey, Lisa Reaum, Stephanie White, Deanne Phillips, and Janina Crouse; nephews Greg (Cathy) Dee, Donnie Weaver, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters Janet Weaver, Elizabeth Creamer, Mary Ward, and Sharon Ward; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert E. and Patricia L. Dee; brothers-in-law, Jack Creamer and Don Weaver; and nephews Bobby Dee and Timothy (Lynn) Dee.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2025, in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City, Indiana.  Father Kevin Hurley will celebrate the Mass. Burial will immediately follow in the Hartford City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church on Friday before Mass from 9:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m.

Memorials may be made in the form of Masses and contributions to the church, or to the Blackford County Animal Shelter, 2520 N. 200 E., Hartford City, IN 47348.
