O. JEAN VAN HORN

HARTFORD CITY, IN O. Jean Van Horn, 83, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Hartford City. She was born April 28, 1926 in Muncie, the daughter of Lester and Mary (Watson-Falby) Van Horn. A 1944 graduate of Hartford City High School, she graduated from Taylor University and received her masters degree at Ball State University. A teacher for over 40 years, she had taught at Muncie, Montpelier, Taylor University, and Coloma, Michigan. Jean was a member of the First Christian Church and the Retired Teachers Association. Surviving are: a brother, Robert Van Horn, Hartford City; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Van Horn and sisters, Vera Denton and Doris Chipman. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 in the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie. Friends may call at the Waters Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday. The family requests memorials be made to the First Christian Church.
