Nancy J. Lenfestey
HARTFORD CITY, IN—
Nancy J. Lenfestey, 74, gained her angel wings Thursday afternoon, December 14, 2023.
A life resident of Hartford City, she was born January 7, 1949, the second child of Bill L. and Phoebe J. (Hudson) Tatman, Sr. and graduated from Hartford City High School, class of 1967. She married Earl A. Lenfestey on March 28, 1979. He precedes her in death on May 9, 1989.
She was a mother, who loved with her entire heart and soul, through good times and bad; Nancy would be by your side to give you all she’s got. She was the first one you would want to call, whether you were happy or sad.
Nancy was easily the life of the party, always ready to laugh, joke or just sit by your side and listen. As long as she had her (caffeine free) diet Coke and her smokes.
Nancy loved going to the Depot for her daily lunches. She was always ready to go out and eat with many friends and family: lunches with the “Golden Girls”, Tatman cousin get-togethers, dinners with her adopted brother, Gary, friends Doug & Beth, or her time with her niece Steph & great-nephew, Brady. She loved telling everyone about the amazing food and great times she had.
She leaves behind her daughter, Lisa Shanayda of Royerton; her “side-kick”: Jerry Robbins and his children: Terri Osborn and Rob Robbins; six grandchildren: Sidney, Blake and Preston Shanayda; Jason Martin, Avery Thornburgh and Tyler Lenfestey and step-grandson, Zach Hughes. Her daughter-in-law, Valerie Shoemaker, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
In addition to her husband and parents, she also is preceded by her son Darrin on July 8, 2022; three brothers: Bill L. Tatman, Jr., James A. Tatman and Tim Tatman. Her son-in-law, Paul Shanayda also precedes her.
Although our lives will not be the same without her here physically, we are so grateful for the times we’ve shared with Nancy. She lost a lot of dear friends in her lifetime. They were her guardian angels. Now, she’s ours.
Services will be at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, December 21st in the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City, with Brian C. Waters officiating. Cremation will be held following, with burial of cremains held privately, at a later date.
Visitation for friends and family, will be from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. Thursday, prior to the service.
