Myron "Rich" Boyle Obituary

Myron J. (Rich) Boyle, 69, of Hartford City, went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2022, after a long, courageous fight against cancer. His family was with him at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

Born on September 15, 1953, in Muncie, IN to Myron E. Boyle and Alma B. (Dick) Boyle.

Rich graduated from Aviation High School, Redondo Beach, CA in 1971 where he was an accomplished athlete in Football, Wrestling, and Track. Among his many awards for football, he was “Back of the Week” at least ten times throughout his Senior football season. Rich tied for First in the California State Wrestling Championship. He was also awarded the prestigious “Athlete of the Year” Award by the Falcons in 1971.

Rich attended El Camino College in Torrance, CA where he wrestled for the Warriors. His love of the sport brought him to Blackford High School where he coached wrestling from 1979 - 1989. His tenure produced several state champs and runners-up for the Bruins.

Rich was a lineman and supervisor for AEP for over 30 years. He was very proud of the work he did in response to natural disasters where he aided those in need by restoring power all over the U.S. He retired in December of 2018.

Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Rich also ran his family's real estate investment business. He was a skilled craftsman and jack of all trades. You could often find him working outside, beautifying his home, and taking pride in improvements of his many properties. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and would often help friends and family make updates to their homes.

Rich was a lifelong member and Past Master of Matthews Lodge F. & A.M. #650. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and I.B.E.W. Local 1392.

He is survived by his wife of over 20 years, Clara Boyle; his son, Dr. Kenneth Boyle (Christa) of Land O Lakes, FL; daughters Kerri Boyle (Matt Samuelson) of Palm Harbor, FL and Kenya Padilla of St. Petersburg, FL. Two stepsons: Shane (Missy) Slaven and Tydge (Michelle) Slaven. Five grandchildren: Trinity, Leilani, and Saorise Boyle; Hunter and Beckett Samuelson. Three step-grandchildren: Kameron, Kaleb, and Olivia Slaven. One sister Vickey (Tim) Holtzleiter, two nieces; Kristy Martin, Alyssa Richey and nephew, Kris Holtzleiter. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ricky.

His children and grandkids were his pride and joy. He will forever be their hero, #22.
