Michael D. Stump, 70, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Edward Hospital, Naperville, Illinois.

He was born in Hartford City January 19, 1947 to Joseph and Charlotte (Casterline) Stump and graduated from Hartford City High School in 1965. Mike attended International Business College, Fort Wayne and graduated from Vincennes University in 1980.

On October 19, 1969 Mike married Connie Sills in Fort Wayne.

As a military personnel officer, he attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3rd Class and retired in 2007 from the Chicago office of FDIC.

Mike was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, American Legion #159, Amvets #23, Blackford F & AM 106 and DAV, Marion.

He is survived by four children, James (Monica) Stump, Marysville, OH, Scott (Kelly) Stump, Oak Park, IL, Matthew (Kim) Stump, Monticello, IL and Michelle Stump, Naperville, IL; two grandchildren, Kyrie and Jason Stump; a sister, Sue Lewellen, Hartford City and nieces and nephew, Ann (Randy) Willmann, Mark Lewellen and Amy Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Connie.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 in Grace United Methodist Church, 312 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Rev. Dr. Gary Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie with military rites by Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St. Hartford City.
