HARTFORD CITY

Mark Edward Moorman, 59, of Hartford City, passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening in the emergency room of IU Health Blackford Hospital from congenital heart disease.

Mark was one of four children born to Edward Lee and M. Arlene (Music) Moorman on March 3, 1958 in Huntington, Indiana and graduated from Blackford High School in 1977. Mark was looking forward to his upcoming 40 year class reunion.

After graduation, Mark became an auctioneer, graduating from Reppert School of Auctioneering. He was known for dressing up for auctions as a famous old movie character, particularly the Marx Brothers. Additionally, Mark was an avid backer, fan and supporter of the Chicago Bears and was especially fond of dogs, German Shepherds, being his favorite breed.

He leaves behind his wife of five months and four days, Donna C. (Haas) Trees-Moorman; one daughter, Patricia (Rich) Thomas, Marion; step-daughters, Christina (Jeff, Jr.) Riddle, Hartford City and Megan Edwards, Fishers; one step-son, Lance Cpl. Samuel Edwards, stationed in Okinawa with the U.S. Marine Corps; one brother, George (Am y) Moorman, Holland, MI; two sisters, Ruth Ann Moorman, Muncie and Melody (Jerry) Smelser, LaFontaine; one grandson, Talon Thomas; two nephews, Jeffrey Glassburn and Andrew(Amy) Smelser; four nieces, Dawn (Daryl) Dingman, Sara (Clifton) Leader-Smith, Rebecca (Tim) Bowes and Beth (Terry) Buhler as well as his beloved companion & rescue dog, Riley.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 14, 2017 with Rev. Bobby Thomas presiding. Burial will be in Monument City Cemetery, South of Andrews, in Huntington County following the service.

Visitation for friends and family will be from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. Friday prior to the funeral.
