Marjorie E. “Marge” Emshwiller
HARTFORD CITY, IN-
Marjorie Elaine “Marge” Emshwiller, 79, passed away early Sunday evening November 7, 2021 at her home of natural causes.
Born in Middletown, Indiana, October 8, 1942, she was the youngest of four children of the late Marion A. Clawson and Margaret Faye (Cameron) Clawson. Marge grew up in Eaton, Indiana, graduating from Eaton High School, class of 1960.
On September 3, 1960 she married Steve Emshwiller in Hartford City, where she raised her family in a true matriarchal, farm wife and mother capacity. A huge Elvis fan, she attended his last concert, June 26, 1977 at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis.
In addition to the role of farming, Marge was employed as an office manager for thirty years at Miracle Water Service, which became EcoWater in Hartford City, from where she retired in 2009.
Marge faithfully canned every season and was known for her baking skills, especially pumpkin bread and the countless cookies she baked over the years.
Her family she leaves include her husband of over sixty-one years, Steve; her three children: Scott Emshwiller, Brenda (Randy) Duerr and Aaron (Sara) Emshwiller. Eight grandchildren: Amber (Jason) Strait, Nathan (Chelsea) Emshwiller, Andrew (Briann) Emshwiller, Charlie (Casey) Duerr, Craig Duerr, Brandy Duerr, Uria Gerlach and Evan Gerlach. Eight great-grandchildren. Her brother Marion (Ruth Ann) Clawson, Jr. and her sister, Ruth Ann (Wilbur “Fud”) Jones, Jr. Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Camille (Lloyd) Dial, Debra (Mark) Singer and Stanley Emshwiller; a former sister-in-law, Karen (Mac) Sharp, along with many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she also is preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Emily & Floyd Emshwiller, her brother, John W. Clawson and brother-in-law, Floyd Allen Emshwiller.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Eaton Union Cemetery, 16301 N. State Rd. 3, Eaton, Indiana. Brian Waters will be officiating, with burial following.
