MARTHA J. RISINGER

HARTFORD CITY, IN Martha J. Risinger, 93, passed away July 14, 2010 at her residence. The daughter of Omer and Mary Jane (Taughinbaugh) Risinger, she was born March 30, 1917 in Hartford City. Martha graduated from Hartford City High School in 1935 and attended Ball State Teachers College. Martha had worked as a bookkeeper for James P. Cronin, Jr. and Raymond Maddox in Hartford City and for Robert P. Cronin in Indianapolis. She was the Deputy County Treasurer under her father from 1937-1941. Later, she worked as the Secretary of Hartford City Chamber of Commerce and worked at the Blackford County Historical Museum. Martha was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hartford City Cemetery Board and B.P.W. Surviving are: two sisters, Kathryn (John) Wrestler, Montpelier, and Virginia Risinger, Hartford City, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Joseph, Robert and Edward Risinger. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 19 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or Blackford Humane Society.
