Lawrence (Larry) Leo Aulbach, a 4th generation farmer and life-long resident of Hartford City, IN, died December 3rd, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Hartford City.
Larry is survived by his sons, Mark (Shea) Aulbach and Joseph (Joni) Aulbach, both of Hartford City, and son-in-law Jim (Jill) Thurman of Hartford City; sisters Rita Alexander and Carolyn (Kenneth) Alexander, both of Wabash, IN, one brother Thomas (Claire) Aulbach of Hartford City, and brother-in-law James Cost of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren: Matthew, Joshua and Adam Aulbach, Ashley and Andrew Thurman, and Jakob, Jaden, Josiah, Jaleigh, and Jacee Aulbach.
He is preceded in death by his parents (Leo and Agnes), wife Julia (Ganser) Aulbach, daughter Amy Thurman, sister Marilyn Cost and brother-in-law Robert Alexander.
Larry was born in Hartford City on June 14th, 1937 to Leo N and Agnes C (Schumacher) Aulbach. He graduated from Roll High School in 1955. On July 27th, 1968, he married Julia, who he met at CYA (Catholic Young Adult), at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mishawaka, IN. Julia sadly passed away on September 28th, 1997.
Larry was a devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed farming. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He loved and enjoyed all of his grandchildren and spoiled them with cookies and candy every chance he had. Larry never met a stranger. he could sit and visit with anyone for hours. He loved to discuss farming and family. He taught his children the value of hard work and led them by example. His favorite place to be was helping his sons on the farm by driving tractors, plowing fields or harvesting crops, and supervising from his Polaris Ranger. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 8th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and also from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 9th, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 209 S Spring St., Hartford City.
All regulations pertaining to COVID-19 are to be followed at church. Social distancing and masks required, with hand sanitizer available.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Kevin Hurley on Wednesday, December 9th at 11:00 a.m., following visitation. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery.
