Kathy Sue (Summerlot) Smith

Sept. 18, 1951 – Mar. 17, 2026

Kathy S. (Summerlot) Smith, 74, passed away Tuesday evening at Envive Health Care, Hartford City, with her family at her side.

She was born in Wells County, the daughter of the now late Roy R. and A. Gwendolyn (Nuttle) Summerlot and graduated in 1969, from the last class of the Hartford City High School.

She married Dale L. Smith on July 11, 1981.  They celebrated over twenty-six years of marriage, prior to his passing, on January 5, 2008.

Kathy was a homemaker and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving family include her children:  Jeff (wife Lori) Christal, Mike (wife Angel) Christal, Kynna (husband Jimmy) Clark, Rhonda (husband Jerry) Walker, Clay (wife Pam) Smith and Lisa (husband Fred) Hancock, along with her several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, her father precedes her in death on Mar. 29, 1989 and her mother, on Nov. 16, 2004.  She also is preceded by her only brother, Jerry Summerlot.

In accordance to keeping with Kathy’s wishes, she has been cremated.  No services are planned at this time.
