John Coulter II Obituary

JOHN H. COULTER II MONTPELIER, IN John H. Coulter II, 61, died Monday, August 24, 2009 in Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie. The son of John H. and Peggy Ann (Petty) Coulter I, he was born on September 6, 1947 in Muncie. He attended Cowan Schools and graduated from Kemper Military School, Boonville, MO in 1965. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, having been stationed in Vietnam and Okinawa. On May 5, 1987, he married Kathie Adkins in Hartford City. He had resided in Cowan, Hartford City and Mattawan, Michigan, moving to Montpelier three years ago. John had worked for Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company, Portage, Michigan, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Mattawan Congregational Church and a member and Past Master of the Wilbur A. Full Lodge #744 F & AM, Muncie. Survivors include: his wife, Kathie; a son, John H. Coulter III (wife, Dana), Fort Jackson, SC; 3 step-sons, Larry J. Thornburgh Jr. (wife, Tracey), Montpelier, Nathan Thornburgh (wife, Bobbie), Dunkirk, and Ronald Thornburgh, Montpelier; a sister, Nancy Ruster (husband, Steve), Cowan; 2 nieces, Susan Kelley (husband, Jim), Ashland, OH and Peggy Jo Lawrence, Cowan; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Pastors Michael Perdue, Larry J. Thornburgh Jr. and Larry Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery, Muncie. Friends may call at Waters Funeral Home from 3-7 p.m. Friday and one hour before services on Saturday. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Kidney Foundation.
