Jerry E. Robbins
HARTFORD CITY, IN
Jerry E. Robbins, 85, passed away Monday morning, May 20, 2024 at University Nursing Center in Upland, after an extended illness.
Born in Bluffton, October 21, 1938, he was the son of Melvin and Verda A. (Markley) Robbins and was raised in Montpelier, Indiana graduating from Montpelier High School, class of 1956.
Jerry’s mother passed away when he was a young boy and was raised by his grandparents, faithfully attending Montpelier United Methodist Church. Jerry excelled in sports in school, especially basketball, earning his varsity letter jacket. Jerry’s athleticism included golf and softball. He played for softball leagues after high school many years and golfed for decades, with memberships at several area golf clubs/courses in this area.
Jerry was an avid supporter of Indiana University, especially IU basketball. He belonged to the Elks Lodge #625 of Hartford City and retired from Panther Transportation.
He leaves one daughter: Teri (Doug) Osborn; one son, Rob Robbins; six grandchildren: Danelle (Henry) French, Dustin Osborn, Josh (Amanda) Robbins, Taylor Bost, Tanner (Jaime) Bost and Tarrin (Jess) Bost. Eight great-grandchildren; Kyran Williams, Donavan Osborn, Avalyn Williams, Darius Osborn, Kamara Williams, Trent Bost, Gabe Bost and Mayah Bost. He also leaves one brother, William (Kathy) Robbins; one sister, Becky Cupp. His “step-daughter” Lisa Shanayda; former son-in-law, Mike Williams and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Williams; two grandsons: Tyler Williams and Trent Williams; his long-time companion, Nancy (Tatman) Lenfestey and her son Darrin.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 3rd in Waters Funeral Home, Hartford City. Visitation will be an hour before services, Jun. 3rd. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Jerry’s family at www.WatersFunerals.com.
