James M. Fawns

HARTFORD CITY, IN James M. Fawns, 82, passed away Friday, December 25, 2009 in Blackford Community Hospital. The son of James and Bertha (Bradar) Fawns, he was born February 6, 1927 in Salt Lick, Kentucky. He married Betty Scott on April 7, 1955 and her death occurred November 29, 1974. He then married Rena Shaw on June 2, 1979. She survives. Jim served in the Army during World War II. He worked as a foreman at Hartford Glass, retiring May 2, 1990. He was a life member of the Moose Lodge and a former member of the American Legion. Survivors include: his wife, Rena; one daughter, Joanna (Ben) Bell, Hartford City; four grandchildren, Jackson, Madison, Xander and Bristol Bell, all of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Mike(Patty) Fawns. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Charles Fawns, and a sister, Ethel Schaferling. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 30 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Rev. Bobby Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Alzheimers Association, ALS Association or to the family.
