HUGH SCOTT Obituary

Hartford City, IN Hugh R. Scott, 86, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Heritage Pointe, Warren. A Hartford City native, he was born May 24, 1925 to Hugh E. and Lois B. (Rawlings) Scott and was a 1942 graduate of Hartford City High School. Hugh also graduated from Indiana Business College. He married Marilyn Blankenbeker in Hartford City on April 20, 1968 and she survives. Hugh was a lifetime resident of Hartford City, retiring from Fulton Glass Company, as Secretary-Treasurer. In May of 2010 he and his wife moved to Heritage Pointe in Warren, Indiana Hugh loved to travel and had been to all fifty states, as well as several foreign countries. An avid racing fan, he especially enjoyed the Indianapolis 500. He was an active and longtime member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Hartford City, the Elks Lodge #625, the Blackford County Historical Society and the Hartford City Cemetery Association. He also served on the Blackford County Council. In addition to his wife, Marilyn, one brother, Allan Scott, Hartford City survives. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Lois Deskewies of Tennessee and several nieces and nephews. One brother, Jerry Scott is deceased. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, Aug. 24th, in Zion Lutheran Church, 308 S. Monroe St., Hartford City, with Pastor David Fleener officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hartford City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City and Wednesday from 10 – 11:00 A.M. at the church. Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, or the Hartford City Cemetery Association, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
