HERBERT H. HOLSTEN

HARTFORD CITY, IN Herbert H. Holsten, 74, passed away Sunday morning, September 26, 2010, in University Nursing Center, Upland. The son of Martin and Laura (Pretzlaff) Holsten, he was born in Portland, Indiana on December 16, 1935. Herbert graduated from Roll High School in 1953 and served in the U. S. Marine Corps. He married Peggy Elam in Hartford City on October 25, 1958 and lived most of his life in Blackford County. Herb was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and worked at 3-M Company for over 30 years. Survivors include: his wife, Peggy; 3 sons, Jeff (Dawn) Holsten, Albuquerque, NM, Jacob (Diana) Holsten, Hartford City, and Bradley (Denise), Albany, IN; 8 grandchildren, Megan Holsten, Jeremy (Cassandra) Holsten, Jarrett Holsten, Tiffany Holsten, Ryan Holsten, Kyle Holsten, Parker Holsten and Brittany (Cole) Chambers; 2 great-grandchildren, Paislee Chambers and Preston Holsten; and a sister, Leona (Richard) Ruch, Sweetser. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Glen, and a sister, Louise Holsten. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2010 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Father Dave Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday.
