Floyd M. “Bud” Rees

Floyd M. “Bud” Rees, 96, died early Tuesday evening, June 21, 2022 in Envive of Hartford City. (formerly Bridgewater Center)
Born in Redkey, Indiana on February 25, 1926, he was one of four children of the late Ray A. and Florence Marie (Smith) Rees.
Bud was one of the few remaining World War II veterans in the area, serving his country in the U.S. Navy. He was present in Japan for the surrender in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1947. He retired in 1977 from Warner Gear of Muncie, after thirty years of faithful service.
He was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the AmVets Post #23 and the Moyer-Pooler Post #159 American Legion, where he served many years as firing squad/color guard commander, providing veteran’s final rites.
An avid golfer & kegler, Bud was a long-time member of Lakeview Golf Club in Eaton and proudly walked the course, well into his 80’s before having to use a riding golf cart. In bowling, he was a member of the Marion Bowling League and bowled many years at the former Northside Lanes, in Hartford City.
He leaves behind three sons: Robert (Estralla) Rees of California, Steve Rees of Marion, Indiana and Bruce Rees of Hebron, IL. One sister, Peggy Fleming. Seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive, as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bud’s wife, Rosemary (Dutton) Rees, passed on January 30, 2000. A daughter Nicki Constable, a brother Keith Rees and a sister, Glenda Marie Brunson have all preceded him in death.
Services will be held Friday, July 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City, with Father Kevin Hurley officiating. Burial with military rites by the U.S. Navy and the Delaware County Veterans Organization will follow at Gardens of Memory, Muncie.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 3 – 7 p.m. Thursday, June 30th and an hour prior to services Friday, at the funeral home.
