Dorothy Rogers

HARTFORD CITY, IN –

Dorothy M. Rogers, 101, passed away Friday evening, February 21, 2025 in Albany Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Blackford County on November 16, 1923, she was the daughter of the now late Charles F. and Cora B. (Scott) Hurst. She married Clifford J. Rogers on January 10, 1940, in Blackford County.  They celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage, prior to his passing, 1997.

A life resident of Blackford County, she made her home many years, in Harrison Township, in the small community of Mollie, where she was known for always baking cookies and making noodles.

She leaves one son, Gary (Carmen) Rogers of Montpelier; one daughter, Mary J. Sutton of Hartford City. Six Grandchildren:  Kathleen (Anthony) Stanley, Troy Sutton, Diana (Jeff) Dragoo, Jeremy (Shannon) Rogers, Patricia (Patrick) Williams and Jessica (Trever) Dunica.  Nineteen great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her son, Richard on December 24, 2019 and daughter-in-law Mary on August 12, 2019; her son-in-law, Virgil Sutton on August 17, 2021; a grandson, Tracy Todd Sutton on December 18, 1969; a great-grandson, Evan Stanley; four brothers:  James Hurst, Floyd Hurst, Charles Hurst and Kenneth Hurst and two sisters: Freida Norris and Nellie Parker.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28th in the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St.  Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory, Muncie, following the service.
