Derek Austin Norris, 22, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident in Blackford County.

He was born July 22, 1994 in Muncie and was employed at Lakeview Greens of Eaton, taking great pride in the appearance of the course. Derek looked up to and thought the world of his boss, Les.

Derek loved sports and was a fan of the New York Yankees and Notre Dame football. In the last couple years he took up playing golf and was always looking for someone to play a round of golf with him.

He loved spending time with his daughter, Piper, and she was his world. Derek's mom and Grandma Joyce were very special to him and he shared his life story with them every chance he had. Derek lived each day for the moment and never worried about tomorrow.

Survivors are: daughter, Piper Addison Raine Norris, New Castle; mother and step-father, Kristin & Paul Whitesell, Hartford City; father, Jason Norris, Mooreland; brothers, Braden Whitesell, Hartford City and Payton Norris, Mooreland; grandparents, John & Joyce Liggett, Eaton and Bruce & Debbie Norris, Losantville and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by Papaw Jerry and Granny Sandy VanNatter and grandmother, Carolyn Norris.

A service to celebrate Derek's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2017 in Calvary Christian the Lighthouse Church, 2101 N. Walnut St., Hartford City with Pastor Troy Kaufman officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, July 14 from 2-4 p.m. at the church.
