David M. Snyder

On April 7, 2024, David M. Snyder died in Muncie, Indiana. He was 83 years old.

David is survived by his wife, Carolee Snyder; children, Kenneth Snyder, Andrea Hough, Alicia Marone, and Nathan Bean; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; as well as his sisters, LauraLee Handel of Wilmington, NC and Julie Katte of Sturgeon Bay, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruth Snyder of Rochester, IN, and his brother, James Snyder of Johnson City, TN. 

David was born on March 19, 1941 in Toledo, OH. He graduated from Rochester High School and went on to earn degrees from both Purdue and Ball State University. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corp, David enjoyed a very successful career with Muncie Power Products as VP of Engineering, retiring after more than 30 years of service. After prior marriages, David and Carolee found each other and married in 1992.

David loved a project, and used his skills in many ways to benefit his community, including leading Eagle Scout troops, as a Rotary Club member, and as chair of the Blackford County United Way Campaign. He was passionate about barbershop and was a member of the Magic City Music Men chorus. Many will remember how much he loved doing singing Valentines. He pursued a wide range of hobbies, including golf, reading, travel, cooking, and a passion for flying model airplanes, which he enjoyed most recently with the Farm Friendly Flyers. David was also instrumental in bringing the AMA museum to Muncie. He was a member of both the Hoosier and Ohio MG Clubs.

In place of a memorial service, the family plans a celebration of David’s life, as he always loved a party. The date and location have yet to be announced.
