Carolyn S. Lechien “Sue”, age 86, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 4, 2022.

She was born on August 2, 1936 in Upland, IN to Merle and Marthanna (Lunsford) Hoggatt.  Her parents preceded her in death, also her step-father, Frank Thurman and daughter-in-law, Valerie (Cross) Lechien. Her husband of over 57 years, Richard “Dick” Lechien passed on August 4, 2013.

She graduated from Jefferson Township High School in Upland, class of 1954.

She was a devoted wife to her husband Richard, to whom she married on April 28, 1956, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hartford City.

She worked briefly at 3M in Hartford City. Also, Twoson in Matthews.  Most of her life, she was a homemaker and a great mother to her kids.  She enjoyed spending her retirement years in North Ft. Myers, FL and playing bingo at the Montpelier Lions Club and the Elks Lodge in Hartford City.

She will be sadly missed by her three sons:  Mark (Angela) Lechien of Eaton; Marty (Elaine) Lechien of Hartford City and Monty (Kris) Lechien of Eaton.  Daughter, Marcy (Matt) McCormack of Bridgeville, PA.  13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a sister, Karen (Sonny) Franks and a brother, John (Debbie) Thurman, all of Upland, Indiana, as well as three half-brothers.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 8th in the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City, with Brian C. Waters officiating.  Burial will be in Hartford City Cemetery, following services.

Visitation is Friday, Oct. 7th from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. and from 10 – 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.watersfuneralhomes.com.0
