CHERYL J. DUFFY

Hartford City, IN Cheryl J. Duffy, 63, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010 in the Blackford Community Hospital Emergency Room. Cheryl was born December 12, 1946 in Fount, Kentucky, the daughter of Pierce and Lucy (Rowland) Smith. She grew up in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Meadowdale High School, Trotwood, Ohio. On September 2, 1967, she married Michael Duffy in Dayton, Ohio. She had resided in Blackford County since 2000. Cheryl was the Department Co-coordinator for the School of Architecture at Ball State University, retiring on March 1, 2009. She was well-respected by her co-workers and was nominated for the Jane Morton Award for outstanding service at the university. Her major interests were gardening, family and arts & crafts. Cheryl was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hartford City. Survivors include her husband, Michael; her mother, Lucy Smith, Hartford City; one son, Damon Duffy, Hartford City; one daughter Dana (Caleb) Williams, Yorktown; one brother, Robert (Stephanie) Hammons, Centerville, Ohio; one sister, Norma (Advus) Hudson, Dayton, Ohio; and one granddaughter, Stella Williams. Cheryl will be cremated with a memorial mass at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for expenses.
