HARTFORD CITY, IN—
Betty J. Carell, 86, passed away Thursday morning, May 20, 2021 at Bridgewater Centre in Hartford City.
She was born on October 29, 1934 in Lebanon, Missouri, to Eugene Franklin and L. Laverne (Murrell) Cansler, spending her childhood years and schooling in Indiana, then married Arthur E. “Art” Carell on January 9, 1955 in Hartford City. They celebrated 66 years of marriage, prior to his passing three weeks ago, April 27th.
Betty worked over thirty years at Sheller-Globe in Montpelier, serving as union secretary there. She loved to play Bingo and was an avid bowler, bowling in a ladies’ league several years, in Hartford City.
She leaves behind three daughters: Risa Teats, Robin Kabrich and Kelly Stone; one son, Mark; six grandchildren, who she loved so dearly: Shawn Kabrich, Ryan Kabrich, Tasha Baker, Autumn Roach, Summer Crouse and Kendra Carell. Two brothers: Rick Cansler and Keith Cansler; eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband’s passing, her father died July 7, 1996; her mother on Feb. 8, 1999; her son-in-law, Dave Kabrich, this past Mar. 2, 2021 and three brothers: Kenneth Cansler,1995; Eddie Lee Cansler, Nov. 27, 2015; Jim “Eldon” Cansler, Sept. 3, 2019.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2021 in the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City, with Pastor Steve DeLisle presiding. Burial follows at the Hartford City Cemetery.
Visitation for friends and family will be from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 23rd at the funeral home.
