Betty J. Cain, 81, passed away August 12, 2019 in Heritage Pointe, Warren.

She was born in Blackford County, one of fifteen children, on September 1, 1937 to Raymond and Alice (Bell) Batten and grew up in Millgrove.

 On July 2, 1955, she married Harry F. Cain. His death occurred on January 9, 2000.

Betty was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society of the church. She was a homemaker and had worked at Jackson Elementary School and Citizens State Bank (now First Financial Bank) in Hartford City.

She is survived by her children, Michael R. Cain, Patricia A. Smith and Deborah K. Cain; grandchildren, Darren Ledbetter, Danielle (Scott) Hartman, Clint Smith and Gavin Smith; two sisters, Janiece Gregory (Gary) and Marsha Bost and a brother, Henry (Georgia) Batten.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and eleven siblings.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2019 in St. John’s Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St. Hartford City with Father Paul Hudson presiding. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2019 in Waters
Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St. Hartford City.
