Hartford City
Barbara F. Hopkins, 76, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
She was born January 18, 1941 in Hartford City the daughter of Wilbur L. and M. Irene (Smith) Jones, Sr. and graduated from Hartford City High School in 1959.
Barbara married Charles (Chuck) Hopkins on February 8, 1963. His death occurred May 28, 2003. She worked several years in manufacturing including Overhead Door Corp, retiring at 62 ½ years of age, from American Woodmark of Gas City.
Barbara lived in Hartford City most of her life, moving to Fort Wayne four years ago to live with her daughter. She enjoyed word find books, watching the Hallmark Channel and in her younger days enjoyed golf, shooting and excelled as a left-handed bowler.
Survivors include a son, Scott Hopkins, Lafayette and a daughter, Stefanie (Bob) Mackin, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren, Kendra Pankop, Cady and Jacob Hopkins and Dalane Aters; three great-grandchildren, Ariya Pankop, Brielle Pankop and Alayna Aters; one sister, Rena J. (Kent) Uptgraft, Aldie, VA; two brothers, Wilbur L. "Fud" (Ruth Ann) Jones, Jr., Hartford City and Dave (Maria) Jones, Fort Myers, FL., as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City with Pastor Steve DeLisle officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017 and from 9-11 a.m. Thursday July 27 at the funeral home.
