Hartford City, Indiana Brenda K. (Ervin) Holtzleiter Freeman, 49, died Sunday morning, July 3, at her home after a short, but valiant battle with cancer. She was born in Marion on June 23, 1962, the daughter of John R. and Bonnie J. (Brammer) Ervin. Brenda graduated from Blackford High School in 1981 and was a life resident of the area. She married Jacob Freeman in Marion on February 20, 1997. She was employed by Pierce Companies, Upland, for 24 years, where she had belonged to the RDWSU Unit D Union. Survivors include her husband, Jacob Freeman; step-children, Jacob Hess, Tylor Freeman and Tabitha Hess; brother, Joe (Cindy) Ervin, Hartford City; sisters, Charlene Fischer, Salem, VA and Deb Townsend, Montpelier; nieces and nephews, Jeremy Bond, Cody Fischer, Jared Ervin, Heather Ervin, Amanda Ervin, Amy Sutton and Jessie Whitesell. She was preceded in death by her father, John Robert Ervin, January 10, 2010, and her mother, Bonnie J. Ervin, November 3, 1997. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 8 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City, with Pastor Dave Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Muncie. Friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 7 at the funeral home.
