HARTFORD CITY, IN Bethel E. Hall, 92, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011, at Northwest Manor, Indianapolis. A native of Jay County, she was born June 2, 1918 to Fred and Ruth (Cray) Iliff. She graduated from Bryant High School in 1937 and lived in Jay County prior to moving to Hartford City in 1961. Bethel married John Hall in Portland on July 29, 1961. Mr. Hall passed away January 1, 2002. Bethel had worked at Franklin Electric in Bluffton for 20 years and at Blackford County Hospital for 15 years. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Altar & Rosary Society. Survivors include: three daughters, Marian Warner, Hartford City, Alberta Close, Bluffton and Norma (Jean) Lawler, Indianapolis; a son, George Brewster, Pennville; two brothers, Ronnie (Roberta) Iliff and Donnie (Patricia) Iliff, both of Portland; two sisters, Oma Jane Uran and Nelda Arta, both of California; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Dwight Brewster, seven brothers, three sisters and a grandson, Jesse Brewster. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 2 in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City by Father Dave Newton. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church or the Blackford Animal Shelter.
