BARBARA FORD Obituary

HARTFORD CITY, IN Barbara Jean Ford, 80, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010 in Blackford Community Hospital. The daughter of Cecil Don and Frances (Bauer) Mc Vicker, she was born February 7, 1930 in Hartford City. She married Clayton I. Ford in Hartford City on June 2, 1946 and resided in Blackford County most of her life, except for 7 years in Portland. A homemaker, Barbara was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Altar-Rosary Society, and Nimble Neighbors Home Ec Club. Surviving are: her husband, Clayton; 3 sons, Dean (Claudia) Ford, Noblesville, Tracy (Janet) Ford, Louisville, Kentucky, and Kevin (Kelly) Ford, Houston, Texas; 2 daughters, Nancy Richardson, Hartford City and Susan (Ken) Thieme, Fort Wayne; daughter-in-law, Joyce Ford, Hartford City; a brother, John (Terry) Mc Vicker, Hartford City; a sister, Julia Weaver, Hartford City; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, former Indiana State Senator David C. Ford, a daughter, Kathy Denise Ford and a brother, Don Mc Vicker. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Dave Newton at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City from 2-4 and 6-8 Friday, July 2 and 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Christian Wake Service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the David C. Ford Memorial Scholarship Fund, St. John’s Church or in the form of masses.
