ADRIAN D. RAMEY HARTFORD CITY, IN Adrian D. Ramey, 86, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in Heritage Pointe, Warren. He was born September 1, 1922 in Mitchell, Indiana, the son of Lewis and Merline (Williams) Ramey and was a 1940 graduate of Fort Wayne Southside High School. He married Lucille Gelhaus in Fort Wayne on August 24, 1946. He had been a tank truck driver for Shell Oil Company, Muncie for 35 years, retiring July 26, 1984. Adrian was an Army veteran of WWII serving in the Signal Corps. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a former member of American Legion Post #159. Surviving are: his wife, Lucille; 4 sons, Dennis (Vicki) Ramey, Ossian, Michael (Janis) Ramey, Hartford City, Timothy (Marianne) Ramey, Fairfax Station, Virginia, and Gregory Ramey, Hartford City; a daughter, Beth (Jack) Norton, Hartford City; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David, a brother, Wayne, and a grandson, Bryan Ramey. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Dave Newton at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009 in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City, Indiana. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton with military graveside rites. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Building Fund or in the form of masses. Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
