Vicky Lynn Reed, 63, died on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

Vicky was born in Kingston, Rhode Island on September 29, 1959 to James and Phyllis (Morris) Smith. She graduated from Blackford High School and raised her family in Hartford City.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and so much more. Her joys in life were all of the above.

Her grandchildren were her world. They brought such joy and happiness into her life. Whether it was doing crafts, giving advice or just being together, she was in Heaven on earth. Her greatest joy was sharing Jesus with all. Her bible could always be found beside her chair. She would read the scriptures, pray, shout and sing praises unto the Lord.

She had the biggest most accepting heart, a true servants' heart. All felt welcomed in her presence. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a contagious laugh and a joyful spirit, even while in pain.

She is survived by her sons: Jonathan Lugar (Katie), Joseph McCoin (Brandy) and Justin O'connell; siblings: Cindy Arnette, Dennis Decker (Cathy) and Terry Williams (Felicia); grandchildren: Megan Shelton (Xabian), Chelsey McCoin, Josh McCoin, Jordan Douglas, Makayla Evans and Arianna Lugar; great-grandchildren: Everly, Emersyn and Eizen Shelton and Willow Furnish and several nieces and nephews.

Vicky was preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis Williams and step-father, Richard Williams; her father, James Smith; brother, Richard Willams, aunt, Jane Ann Murrell; uncle, Warren Smith and a granddaughter, Emily O'connell.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Calvary Pentecostal Church, 901 N Richmond St., Hartford City, with Pastor Kevin Lex officiating.

Visitation for family and friend will begin at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the church.
