Steven R. Seelig, 71, passed away Tuesday morning, July 11, 2017 at IU Health/Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.

He was born September 19, 1945, the son of Harold and Beth (Prichard) Seelig and grew up here, graduating from Hartford City High School, class of 1963. Steve also served his country in the U.S. Air Force, honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.

On June 15, 1968 he married Diana Elwood in Hartford City, where they attended Grace United Methodist Church.

Steve was a designer/purchasing agent and retired from J G Bowers of Marion . Prior to retirement he also had worked at St. Joe Container/Box USA of Hartford City. He was a member of the Moyer-Pooler Post #159 American Legion, Hartford City and was an avid golfer and former member of the Blackford Country Club.

He attended Purdue and graduated from Ball State with a degree in Industrial Arts.

Steve also enjoyed skeet shooting at McAtee's and many trips to many casinos, with the Lake Tahoe region being his favorite area.

He leaves behind his wife of forty-nine years, Diana; one son, Brian R. Seelig, Austin, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Ross and Cheryl Elwood, Hartford City; his mother-in-law, Mary Elwood, Hartford City; two nieces, Kari Johnson (Stephen) and Kerbi Davisson (Michael), as well as his beloved dog, Ralph. He is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Robert Elwood.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St. Hartford City with Rev. Lloyd Hall presiding. Private burial will follow services.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, July 14th at the funeral home, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy are strongly encouraged to be sent to the Blackford County Cancer Support Group, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
