HARTFORD CITY, IN—

Sandy Shroyer, died Monday, October 10 at Miller's Merry Manor, in Hartford City, Indiana surrounded by her devoted daughter, Chantel Willmann and son's Phil and Greg.  A Celebration of Life, will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, in Hartford City, on Thursday, October 13th. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. with services beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Sandra Fay Shroyer, was born on December 31 ^st , 1936 in Wabash, Indiana to James & Isabelle Hipsher.  She attended high-school in Wabash, graduating in 1954 and then pursued the nursing profession.  In 1957, she earned her degree from the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing and put her considerable talents to work first as a surgical floor nurse, and then in private practice.  However, her first and most cherished role was that of mother and grandmother.  Greg, Chantel & Phil are forever grateful for the steadfast love she provided and the time she devoted to supporting them in each endeavor they chose.  Her talents as a seamstress, kept her busy sewing everything from beautiful dresses for Chantel, to more practical items, because Sandy never let a piece of fabric go unused.  She had a keen eye for picking the most beautiful fabric combination, and her work on the machine or by hand was nearly flawless.  Sandy was also an accomplished gardener.  Schooled, in the art of growing bountiful vegetables by her beloved father, Jim, Sandy became a master gardener and passed on her love of growing beautiful plants and flowers to her children.  She canned, cooked and prepared, "nutritionally sound," meals, and even as her health limited her ability to cook, she always watched what she ate, and use her knowledge of nutrition to help anyone she could.  Sandy's skills and tenacity served her well, as she battled a virulent strain of arthritis; that eventually made even the simplest of movements nearly impossible.  However, she never gave up and relied on her most important attribute, her rock solid faith to see her through every battle and circumstance.  It is her deep devotion especially to the families of the First Presbyterian Church of Hartford City, where she volunteered many hours, and shared her great love of the Lord-that will remain her greatest legacy.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Chantel, & husband Brian; sons:  Greg (Kathy) Shroyer, and Phil (Ruth) Benedict.  Grandchildren:  Sydney Willmann (fiance' Christian), Allie & Andrew McNamara, & baby Emma Grace, and Dalton Willmann.  Joseph, Sam (fiancée Megan); Katie & Jamie Benedict.  McKenzie (fiancé Ryan) Austin & Brandi Shroyer & Chase & Justine Shroyer.  Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law's Sandra & Shirley Hipsher.
