Rose Marie Brown, 73, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 at home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Hartford City on December 20, 1944 to George H. and Vivian (Townsend) Bauer. She graduated from Hartford City High School in 1962 and went on to get her Bachelor's degree in 1966 and Master's degree of Arts in 1969 from Ball State University. She taught 7th and 8th grade English at Blackford County Middle School from 1966 to 2005 retiring after 39 years of teaching.

Rose Marie married Stephen C. Brown on February 20, 1971. She was a devoted wife, mother and "Mimi" to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen; two sons, Eric (Michelle) Brown, Gas City and Tyler (Susana Correia) Brown, Cambridge, MA; grandchildren: James Brown currently of Japan, Makana and Kamea Brown of Gas City, her brother John Bauer of Hartford City and several other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, George Bauer and Fred Lightle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018 in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City with Father Dave Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 28 at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St. Hartford City, IN with a Christian Wake Service starting at 2:00 p.m.

Visitation on Saturday, September 29 will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Cancer Services of Grant County.
