Nicholas Ross Charnley, 69, passed away October 10, 2018 at his home.

He was born in Hartford City on January 14, 1949 to Ross and Rita (Pursley) Charnley and attended Hartford City schools.

Nick served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of Amvets Post 23.

He is survived by his children: Gayle (Steve) Zavattaro, Marie (David) Stevens, Rita "Libby" (Clayton) Withrow, Nick (Neena) Charnley and Josh Charnley; sisters, Mary (Gary) Vanderbur, Teresa Rouse, and Judy Smith; brothers, Frederick "Rick" Charnley, Mark (Robin) Charnley, and Eugene "Geno" (Marlena Jo) Charnley; ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Janet, one son, James, one sister, Rita Ann Benedict and two brothers, Francis and Vincent.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2018 in St. John's Catholic Church, 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City with Father Dave Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery with the U.S. Army attending for flag presentation.

Visitation will be Monday, October 15 from 9:00-10:45 a.m. in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City.
