LEWISBURG, TN—
Michael Allen Turner, 75, passed away at 7:08 P.M., Friday, September 23, 2022, in Maury Regional Medical Center, Columbia, TN, following a recent illness.
He was born in Hartford City, Indiana on February 18, 1947, one of three children of Edward H. and Virginia I. Turner and was a 1965 graduate of Hartford City High School. He married Freda L. Nottingham on July 8, 1967.
He served his country in the United States Army, Special Forces, from 1967 to 1969. Then, the U.S. Army Reserve until being honorably discharged in 1973. He was employed for the 3M Company for twelve years, where he served an apprenticeship in Skilled trades, for machine repair.
In 1993 he moved to Tennessee. He spent 32 years working for General Motors Corporation, as a journeyman machine repair machinist, retiring from Saturn Corp., in Spring Hill, TN in 2008.
He leaves behind three children: Kellie J. (Glynn) Barber of Redkey, IN; Keith E. (Laura) Turner of Murfreesboro, TN and Kim M. Swartz (James) of Ossian, IN. Seven grandchildren: Ryan A. (Kayla) Sutton of Muncie; Katelin (Chris) Engler, Norfolk, VA; Dylan (Deanna) Michael, Mt. Sterling, KY; Britteny (Marcus) Price, Ft. Wayne; Brady (Kortney) Swartz of Marion; Nathaniel Kilpatric of Murfreesboro, TN and Gabby Kilpatric, also of Murfreesboro. Eleven great-grandchildren: Piper Sutton, Liam Sutton, Isaac Engler, Noah Engler, Finnegan Engler, Leonidas Michael, William Michael, Victoria Michael, Sophie Price, River Kilpatric and Kamori Kilpatric. One sister, Jill Hoskins of Madison, WI; sisters-in-law: Ann Turner of Marion, Kathy Nottingham of Hartford City; brother-in-law, Dennis (Roxann) Nottingham, also of Hartford City, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, his wife Freda died this past April 29th; and a brother Wayne E. Turner of Marion, in 2020.
Graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30 at Gardens of Memory, Muncie, with Rev. Jimmie Lee officiating. Military rites will be rendered by the U.S. Army and the Delaware County Veterans Organization.
Visitation will also be on Friday, from 12:00 noon to 2:30 P.M. at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City.
