Mary L. Ehlers, 88, passed away on January 10, 2023 surrounded by her family at Westminster Village.

Mary was born on December 27, 1934 to Edna (Hobbs) Lambert. Mary and her siblings were raised by their mother and step-father, George Stephans. She graduated from South Shore High School and married Owen Ehlers on December 27, 1954.

The family relocated to Hartford City, Indiana where they would raise their family. After raising her children, Mary worked for several area factories and dress shops over the years. Mary and Owen attended Zion Lutheran Church in Hartford City for many years.

She is survived by her loving husband 68 years, Owen Ehlers; four sons: Richard Ehlers (Patty), Michael Ehlers (Kim), Timothy Ehlers and Steven Ehlers (Jeffrey Ritter); grandchildren: Jennifer McVey (Dustin), Candace Capps (Shawn), Andrew Ehlers (Amy) and Stephanie Ehlers; great-grandchildren: Kameron, Clay, Emma Byron, Alyza, Penny and Brooklyn; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother and step-father, Edna and George Stephans, Mary was preceded in death by her siblings: Fred Lambert, Ted Lambert, Lorrie McDonell, Shirley Miller and Kathleen Armbruster.

Memorial visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Waters Funeral Home 501 W Washington St., Hartford City.
