M. Elaine Hancock, 74, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died on August 29, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne after a brief battle with Covid-19.

Elaine was born on November 26, 1946 to Dow E. and Mildred I. (Smith) Coons. She attended Hartford City Schools and married Don C. Hancock. Together they would raise their family in Hartford City.

Elaine loved spending time with her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loving going to listen to Cook and Bell.

She is survived by her children: Jonda Main, Bobbi Wyatt (George), and Don Hancock; a brother, Rob Coons; sister, Patricia Constable (Rick); nine grandchildren: Amanda Fry, Patrick Freeman, Todd Beaty, Megan Laschinsky, Calvin Wyatt Jr., Malachai Wyatt, Damion Wyatt, Destany Bruton\ and Savanna Hancock; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donna Coons; brother-in-law, Mike Piercy; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Don Hancock in 2015, a daughter, Correna Biddle; brother Gabe Coons and a sister, Barb Piercy.

Private graveside services will be held at Gardens of Memory at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Waters Funeral Home, Hartford City.
